Library
Policies
- Food and Drink are highly discouraged; exceptions are made around breakfast and lunch for items that aren't messy. Students who do eat and drink in the library are required to clean up after themselves.
- If you would like to check out a book, you can bring your selection to Ms. Tsivitis.
- Students are permitted in the library after school, unless there is a meeting, where they may study or chill out. Regular library policies still apply after school.
- Noise should be kept at a respectful level. Screaming and other big disruptions are not permitted. If a student is playing videogames are watching videos, the volume must be kept low or silent.
- Students who have study hall in their schedule are to report to the library, where they'll be marked present. Students with a free period are welcome to come to the library, provided that they come with a program that is up-to-date and that has their name on it, otherwise it is not acceptable proof of the student having a free period.
- Students are to enter the library at the main door, and only the main door to ensure their own safety and the safety of their peers.
- Students are to follow standard school rules in the library. Running, disrespectful language, sneaking around, and cutting class are all violations of school policies.
- Multiple offenses of these policies will lead to disciplinary measures.
Education in the library
The library hosts the National Honors Society during 3rd period advisory, as well as the Cosmetology Club during 9th period club. Both are run by Ms. Tsivitis.
Sometimes, when a teacher is out, classes are placed in the library. When this happens, students are still expected to come to that class and stay for the full period, unless they are excused.
Resources in the library
The library offers a wide selection of books, some very new, in multiple languages. There are books from many different genres, from comic books to test prep. Students are not only welcome but encouraged to enjoy our reading selection. You can see our full library catalog here: Destiny Discover Home
In addition to books, students can check out DVDs and borrow personal computers. Maker space activities and games are also available, although they must stay in the library. As for educational technology there are desktops, a printer, 3D printers, and a copier.
