Jinni Xu

Jinni Xu has been teaching math and science for more than 30 years, 18 years in China. She teaches bilingual earth science, math A and math B at LESP. Ms. Xu earned her bachelor's degree in physics from Shanghai Teachers University, China and master's degree in mathematics from CUNY. Besides regular teaching, she has been working for NYS & NYC Department of Education as a curriculum developer, translator and teaching certificate evaluator since 1992. She developed math curriculum, English-Chinese Math Course I-III Glossaries and English-Chinese Earth Science Glossaries and translated NYS math and science Regents exams.

Jinni Xu also teaches origami art in the school. This art course introduces origami development, basic bases, and techniques. The students learned many kinds of models, such as animals, flowers, boxes, greeting cards, geometry patterns, and polyhedrons. Through folding, the students not only developed the origami skills, but also strengthened their understanding of math concepts
