Ms. Guo teaches Living Environment and Chemistry courses. She graduated from SUNY at Stony Brook with a Bachelor Degree in biochemistry and from New York University with a Master Degree in Science Education. In addition, she also served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.
Ms. Guo believes in the student-centered classroom where students are the active learner and teachers are the facilitator. She believes that every student is a scientist and science is everywhere in our daily life. She believes that mastering scientific skills could help students to excel not just in science, but in many subjects. She reinforces these scientific skills in her classroom through inquired based hand-on activities, laboratory works and class discussion.
Ms Guo is also responsible for the “raising silkworm” project of the Science Department this semester. The silkworm eggs just newly hatched for two weeks. Currently she has two students Jaymon Zheng and Tony Yang helping her with the project. They have done an outstanding job.
