Brian Knudsen

Brian Knudsen started teaching at Lower East Side Prep. in the fall of 2005. He is new to New York and when he is not at Lower East Side Prep he is usually taking classes at Columbia Teachers College where he is currently working on his Masters Degree in TESOL as a member of the U.S. Peace Corps Fellows Program. Before coming to Lower East Side Prep Brian lived in the mountains of South West China where he served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer for two years. Brian joined the U.S. Peace Corps after immediately after graduating from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. As an undergraduate he earned a BA in Environmental Studies with minors in Chinese and Economics. Brian also studied abroad at Beijing University, Nanjing University, and in Kenya with the School For Field Studies. Brian grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He enjoys traveling, studying Chinese, fly-fishing, running, reading, canoeing, hiking, and cooking.
