Sibyl Economos

Sibyl Economos has been an English High School teacher in New York City since 1998. She started teaching at Lower East Side Prep H.S. in 2003. Sibyl teaches a Research and Methods class, and an English Literature class. She is the school’s Yearbook Advisor and teaches several after school programs for students who need extra help in mastering the English language. In her classroom instruction, Sibyl incorporates reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. In addition, she uses the aesthetic approach of teaching by allowing students to respond and reflect to literature through various art and dramatic techniques. Sibyl earned her BA in English Literature at SYNY Cortland and holds an MA in English Literature from Brooklyn College. She is the recipient of the 2001 New York State English Council Teacher of Excellence Award. She is affiliated with The New York City Writing Project, Looking Both Ways, Community Work, The Theater Development Fund, and NCTE.
