Ryan Keating

Rian Keating has been an English Teacher and LESP for the last ten years. Rian grew up in a small New Hampshire town where he graduated at the very bottom of his high school class in 1979. The next day, Rian moved to New York City to follow his theatrical interests. During his twenties, Rian hosted a cable television celebrity interview program and became a nightclub singer. When Rian turned thirty, he decided to finally go to college, even though he need math remediation before he could pass the CUNY skills assessment test in Math. Rian worked the midnight shift as a legal proofreader while he attended college and he graduated summa cum laude from John Jay College in Criminal Justice in 1994. He first substituted at LESP during the January Blizzard of 1996 and was hired as soon as there was an opening. Rian teaches the English Regents Preparatory classes as LESP where his students take advantage of his theatrical background by acting out plays. An interesting fact is that Rian's first apartment in New York City was 184 Norfolk Street and in 1979 the neighborhood was so bad that he never even came half a block south the Stanton Street
